What happens at the tunnel and checkpoints?
Passports are checked at the tunnel and at checkpoints on the Sinai road; luggage may be scanned. The driver handles the stops; keep passports with visas in the car.
Which route does the car take, and which areas are avoided?
The route runs down the west coast of South Sinai (Ras Sudr, Abu Zenima, El Tor). Official advice for North Sinai is against all travel — this route does not go there. Read the FCDO regional advice before you book.
