Hotel excursion or your own car? An honest comparison
For one or two people the hotel’s group excursion is usually the cheapest way to Luxor or Cairo. From four or five people your own car with driver costs about the same per person: Luxor from Hurghada is $200 per sedan or $250 per Hiace for up to 10. You choose the start time, the stops and the pace. Prices checked .

Group excursion
A bus collects guests from several hotels, follows a fixed programme with a guide and usually stops at shops. Good for solo travellers and couples on a budget.
Private guided tour
A car or minivan with a guide just for your group. The most comfortable option and the most expensive one.
Your own car with driver (RideEG)
The car and the driver are yours for the day; the driver is not a guide but you can add a licensed Egyptologist for +$110. Best for families and groups of 4–10 who want their own timing.
